Abstract
Purpose: This study aimed to address the relationship between knowledge and attitudes of nurses working in long-term care hospitals toward elderly sexuality and barriers to addressing elderly patients¡¯ sexual health.

Methods: The study objects were 150 nurses working in 10 long-term care hospitals located in B metropolitan city. Data were collected from January 20 to February 28, 2014 using self-reported questionnaires.

Results: The degree of attitudes toward elderly sexuality and barriers to addressing sexual health was found to be lower than the middle, and the degree of knowledge toward elderly sexuality was found to be middle. The higher the degree of knowledge toward elderly sexuality of the subject, the more acceptable attitudes toward elderly sexuality (r=-.28, p=.001). The more acceptable attitudes toward elderly sexuality of the subject, the lower the degree of barriers to addressing sexual health (r=.16, p=.046).

Conclusion: It is necessary to develop the nursing intervention program for elderly sexual health to help nurses working in long-term care hospitals in consideration of factors that influence barriers to addressing sexual health identified in this study, and to examine its effects is thought to be required.
